The effect of these factors is a gradual reduction of capacitance, uneven voltage sharing within the capacitor, andeventually a rupture of the capacitor. The drive may continue to run for a period of time with a failed RectifierSnubber Capacitor, but eventually theassociated switching device and possibly other localized components will failas consequential damage.Rectifier Snubber Capacitors are a Preventative Maintenance item:For 6 Pulse and 18 Pulse Configurations:

 Recommended maintenance interval of 4 years when replaced with the same model (80025-523-09) as theoriginal capacitor (assuming existing stock available at customer’s locations).

 The original model has been discontinued and replaced by an enhanced design (80026-508-03) that featuresa recommended maintenance interval of 10 years. Source these through the local distributor or throughRockwell Automation Customer Care.For AFE Configurations:

 Recommended maintenance interval of 10 years when replaced with the same model (either 80025-523-12,15) as the original capacitor (assuming existing stock available at customer’s locations).

 The original models have been discontinued and replaced by enhanced designs (80026-508-05, 08) thatfeature the same recommended maintenance interval of 10 years. Source these through the local distributoror through Rockwell Automation Customer Care.Recommended Action - Customers with PowerFlex 7000 Drives with Rectifier Snubber Capacitors beyond therecommended maintenance interval should order these capacitors and schedule Preventative Maintenance time tohave them replaced.

The replacement procedure typically should not exceed 8 hours. The part number and the quantity of capacitorsrequired will depend on the Rectifier Type and Operating Voltage. The following table defines the parts that shouldbe ordered:
