ABB CI853K01 and TP853 RS-232C Interface

CI853K01 Module

• Basic Information: The CI853K01 is a communication interface module with the ordering information 3BSE018103R1. It is designed for seamless integration into ABB's industrial automation systems.

• Communication Interface: It provides two independent RS-232-C interfaces, which can simultaneously connect multiple devices. The connectors are RJ-45 female (8-pin).

• Supported Protocols: The module supports multiple communication protocols, including COMLI and Modbus RTU. COMLI is an ABB - specific protocol for data transmission between controllers, designed for asynchronous master/slave communication in half - duplex. Modbus RTU is a widely used open - source serial protocol.

• Hot - swap Feature: The CI853K01 supports hot - swap, which means the module can be replaced without turning off the system power, improving the reliability and maintainability of the system.

• Transmission Speed: The transmission speed range is 75 to 19,200 b/s.

TP853 Baseplate

• Function: The TP853 is a baseplate for the CI853K01 module. It provides a physical installation platform for the CI853K01 and has two RS-232-C ports implemented with RJ45 connectors, which can be regarded as an extension of the onboard RS-232-C port on PM8xx when more RS-232-C ports are required.

• Modem Support: The TP853 provides an RS-232-C channel with full modem support for each of the COM1 and COM2 ports. If the cables extend beyond 15 m, a modem (such as TC562) will be required.
