About the DS3800NTEA
The DS3800NTEA is a termination board by GE created for the Mark IV system. The MKIV is GE’s steam/gas turbine management system with dedicated control that takes care of startup, speed control, temperature, GT protection, control sequencing, shutdown, and power supply. The MKIV was an improvement over earlier GE systems, as it has increased reliability and a substantial decrease in the GT outage rate through the use of distributed control functions, as well as having an enhanced operator interface.
The DS3800NTEA is built with a single circuit. The circuit is an octal 3-state buffer/line driver/line receiver with 20-lead small outline package. It is an EIAJ Type II that is 5.3 mm wide. This chip has PNP inputs that reduce DC loading on bus lines and has typical propagation delay times of 10.5 ns inverting, 12ns non-inverting.
The DS3800NTEA is built with factory alignment markings along one edge. It is imprinted on one edge with the code 6BA00. It is drilled in all corners and has inserter/extractor clips added. These nylon clips are affixed to the board by two roll pins. They provide ample gripping surface and give the technician a mechanical advantage during extraction by offering a pivot point to pull the board from its seated position.
The DS3800NTEA has two rows of spare PTH. PTH, or plated-through holes allow components to make contact with the conductive layers of the board. The board is built with fixed vacuum capacitors as well as capacitors of other material. Most resistors are made of ceramic-covered metal film, but carbon composite resistors have also been used.
