In a turbine control system, a Data Link Isolation Board is a device used to isolate the communication link between the control system and the turbine's digital governor. This board provides protection to the control system by preventing any electrical noise or interference from entering the control system via the communication link. 

The Data Link Isolation Board is typically placed between the digital governor and the control system's input/output (I/O) module, and it uses optoisolators to electrically isolate the two systems. 

Opto-isolators use light to transmit signals between the two systems, which provides a high degree of isolation and protection against electrical noise.

 The use of a Data Link Isolation Board in a turbine control system helps to improve system reliability and performance by reducing the risk of electrical interference, which can cause errors and system failures. Here are some of the features of a typical Data Link Isolation Board used in turbine control systems: Opto-Isolation: The board uses optoisolators to provide electrical isolation between the digital governor and the control system's input/output module. Low Noise Design: The board is designed to have low noise, which helps to prevent electrical noise from interfering with the communication link. 

High-speed Communication: The board supports high-speed communication between the digital governor and the control system, typically using a serial communication protocol. Compact Size: The board is usually compact in size, which makes it easy to install in a control system cabinet. 

Easy to Install: The board is designed to be easy to install and configure in a turbine control system. LED Indicators: The board may include LED indicators to provide status information, such as power and communication status. The DS3800XPER from General Electric functions as an isolation module within the Mark IV turbine control system. The DS3800XPER is a smallish board, weighing in at approximately 0.50 pounds.  This board functions as a PC isolation card.  

However, it has been discontinued by the original equipment manufacturer and can no longer be sourced from General Electric.   We do our best to keep it in stock here at AX Control, along with thousands of other hard-to-find General Electric components. 

The DS3800XPER board has been factory drilled in several locations along both short board edges.  It has a place available for a mounted bar code, and some boards may have this in place.  The board is marked with the GE logo close to the center.  Additionally, it has an area of spare PTH near one corner. 

Mounted components on this board include a terminal block with twelve screws.  Each screw is numbered and labeled.  The board has several vertical pins located in two lines.  

These are near the center of the board.  Near these, there is a single TP test point.  Additionally, the board has two small jumper switches and two larger jumpers.  Other board components include several resistors and capacitors, a Cera-mite variable resistor, a vertical pin jack connector, and a vertical pin plug.
