Correct Installation Method

The unit is a plug-and-play module designed strictly for installation on a matching ETEL high-voltage multi-axis backplane.

Safety Discharge Delay: Isolate the primary AC lines and the auxiliary 24 VDC control power. Wait a minimum of 10 minutes for the internal bulk capacitors to discharge safely before handling module connectors.

Module Alignment: Slide the drive along the backplane channel guide tracks until the high-power rear connectors engage completely. 

Securely torque down the faceplate integration screws to establish a low-impedance path to safety earth.

Cabling Shield Boundary: Attach encoder lines to the designated feedback ports using double-shielded twisted-pair cables. 

Ensure the metal backshells of the connectors are tightly fastened to the frame to shield the lines from high-voltage PWM frequency interference.

Basic Operating Guidelines

Logic-First Sequence: Always energize the auxiliary 24 VDC logic line first to initialize safety variables and verify network connectivity before closing main contactors to energize the primary 400 VDC high-voltage bus.

Commissioning Suite: Use ETEL ComET via a USB 2.0 or EtherCAT connection to run automatic current loop calibration, map out error compensation tables, and define software travel limits.

Configuration Safety: Save a complete clone file of your axis parameter configuration (.prs) before processing system-wide firmware updates through ComET.

4. Fault Diagnosis & Troubleshooting

The controller integrates advanced self-protection layers that actively detect anomalies. Use the front LED indicators and the ComET diagnostic panel to troubleshoot system faults:

Overcurrent Fault / Short Circuit:

Possible Cause: Motor phase short circuit, excessively high acceleration values, or wrong motor parameters.

Remedy: Power off the system completely and isolate the motor phases. Measure phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground resistance on the direct-drive coils to identify short circuits.

Position Following Error Exception:

Possible Cause: Mechanical binding, inadequate current limit settings, or bad control loop tuning.

Remedy: Check the axis for mechanical binding or friction. If the mechanical track is clear, adjust the position loop gain factors or increase the current limit thresholds inside ComET.

Encoder Communication Loss:
