The UCVC is available in three forms, UCVCH1, UCVCH3, and UCVCH5. The standard UCVCH1 controller is a double-slot board using a 133 MHz Intel Pentium processor with 8 MB of flash memory and 16 MB of DRAM. A single 10Base2 (BNC connector) Ethernet port provides connectivity to the toolbox or other devices via EGD. The UCVC contains a double column of eight status LEDs. These LEDs are sequentially turned on in a rotating pattern when the controller is operating normally. When an error condition occurs the LEDs display a flashing error code that identifies the problem.

The IS215UCVCH5 is a GE Mark VI UCV controller.  This component was manufactured by GE to be a part of the Mark VI system, which was released as part of the Speedtronic line of gas/steam turbine management.    The MKVI can be used as either a Simplex or a TMR (triple modular redundant) system, depending on the size, complexity, and needs of the related turbine system.

The IS215UCVCH5 is a controller board with a wide double front faceplate with many components mounted into it.  The board takes up four VME slots. Components in the faceplate include three sets of LEDs (twenty-two in all,) a DLAN+ interface, two Genius Interfaces, two ISBus interfaces, as well as two COM interfaces.   Some of the LEDs on the front panel are labeled Status, flsh, active, ok, enet, and active (2nd.) The OS for this component is QNX, which is a multitasking operating system similar to UNIX. The processor is a 486 100 MHz processor.  Memory on this controller is 8 MB DRAM with 128 KB of level 2 cache.

The Ethernet interface of the IS215UCVCH5 is a 10BaseT connector using TCP/IP protocol to communicate with the toolbox and SRTP (serial request transfer protocol) to interface between the controller and the HMI (human-machine interface.)   The COM1 port located on the faceplate is used for diagnostics only and the COM2 port is used for Modbus communication between the controller and DCS.
