The VMIVME-5550 reflective memory interface allows data sharing between as many as 16 independent VMEbus systems (nodes) at a rate of up to 20 MB/s. Each reflective memory board can be configured with on-board SDRAM of 256 KB to 4 MB. The local SDRAM provides fast read access time to stored data. The writes are stored in the local SDRAM and broadcast to other reflective memory nodes through the high-speed parallel data bus. Data transmission between nodes is software transparent, so I/O overhead is not needed. The transmit and receive FIFO buffers data during peak data rates to optimize CPU and bus performance, thus maintaining high data throughput.
VMIC VMIVME-5550-010 is a reflective memory interface module, which belongs to GE FANUC VMIC series. The module realizes efficient data transmission through independent VMEbus system nodes, supports the sharing and transmission speed of up to 20 megabytes per second, and can be configured with on-board synchronous dynamic random access memory (SRAM) of 256 kilobytes to 4 megabytes to provide fast and high-quality data reading access.
