Kongsberg K-Gauge system product description

Kongsberg K-Gauge is a highly integrated cargo monitoring and control system developed by KONGSBERG Maritime, which is an automation solution specially designed for ships and ocean engineering. The functions, technical parameters, system composition, application scenarios and technical advantages are described in detail below:

Core functionsIntegrated cargo monitoring

Liquid level measurement: radar technology is used to realize high-precision liquid level monitoring, which is suitable for all kinds of liquid goods (such as liquefied natural gas, petroleum, chemicals, etc.), and the accuracy is not affected by the gas composition or pressure change in the storage tank.

Temperature and pressure monitoring: collect the temperature and pressure data in the storage tank in real time, and support the dynamic adjustment of the cargo state.

Valve and pump control: integrated automatic control module, which can remotely operate the start and stop of valves and pumps and optimize the cargo handling process.

Overfill protection system (K-Gauge TOP)

Comply with the mandatory requirements of IMO for cargo hold overfill protection, and prevent the liquid level from exceeding the limit by radar level gauge and adjustable alarm limit.

Multi-level alarm configuration is supported, and the alarm limit can be flexibly set in the middle section (6m area) of the static pipe to ensure safety and redundancy.

Data integration and visualization

Seamless integration with K-Chief 600 ship automation system, sharing sensor data, simulating and displaying the status of storage tanks on the operating station, providing a global perspective.

echnical specificationsPower supply: 24V DC (working range: 18–32V), which is suitable for the marine power environment..Measurement accuracy: the change of gas vapor density is compensated by AutroCAL® automatic calibration technology to ensure continuous and accurate measurement.

Environmental adaptability: deck equipment adopts AISI 316L stainless steel, which is corrosion-resistant and suitable for harsh marine environment.

Radar liquid level gauge: GLA-310/5TOP (one for each storage tank), which emits swept-frequency microwave signals and calculates the liquid level through time delay.

Processing unit: GLK-300/x (one for each storage tank), responsible for signal processing and alarm logic.

Operation panel: Special interface supports real-time monitoring and alarm management, and integrates relay output unit (RDIOR420) and remote controller (RCU502).

landscape design

The total length is 10 meters, which is divided into three parts: upper, middle and lower. Multiple adjustable alarm limits can be set in the 6-meter area in the middle section.

The static tube is provided with a vent hole to balance the internal and external steam pressure and ensure the liquid to rise and fall freely.

Applicable ship type

Liquefied gas carrier: supports the storage and transportation of LNG, LPG, ethylene, ammonia and other gases, and adapts to the measurement requirements of different gas components.

Oil tanker and chemical tanker: used for monitoring crude oil, asphalt, chemicals and other liquid cargoes, and compatible with high viscosity liquids (such as asphalt).

Synergy with K-Chief 600

As an extension module of K-Chief 600, it shares sensor data and supports centralized control of cargo system, power management, ballast monitoring and other functions.

For example, in power management, K-Chief optimizes the start-stop strategy of generators through K-Gauge data.

AutroCAL automatic calibration: dynamically compensate the propagation speed of radar signal by reference mark echo, and eliminate the error caused by gas density change.
