Vibro-Meter IRC4 Intelligent Relay Card is a specialized expansion relay module engineered for Meggitt’s VM600 machinery protection system (MPS).

 Installed into a standard 19-inch 6U rack (such as ABE04x or ABE042), the IRC4 expands the system's output switching capabilities, driving complex voting logic, multi-level plant warnings, emergency trips, and automated shutdown routines for critical rotating machinery.

Product Introduction / Overview

System Expansion Hub: Provides dedicated, programmable electromechanical relay contacts to extend the discrete alarm output capacity of VM600 racks beyond standard MPC4/IOC4T local outputs.

Complex Logic Processing: Integrates onboard logic engines capable of processing Boolean logic functions (AND, OR, 2oo3 voting structures) across multiple input channels and processing cards across the backplane.

Fail-Safe Operation: Features software-configurable relay states, including standard normally energized (fail-safe) or normally de-energized operation with configurable latching and reset behaviors.

Dedicated Status Diagnostics: Incorporates active contact state monitoring, continuously validating relay coil integrity and backplane communication paths.

Installation Method

Slot Identification: Select an available option slot (slots 1 to 11 depending on rack layout) on the front of the VM600 ABE04x rack.

Backplane Insertion: Align the IRC4 circuit card along the top and bottom guide rails of the rack slot. Push the card in firmly until the multi-pin connector seats completely into the rear backplane.

Mechanical Fastening: Hand-tighten the top and bottom front-panel retaining screws to lock the module into position and complete chassis ground bonding.

Rear Wiring Connection: Attach field trip circuitry cables to the corresponding rear terminal strips, ensuring proper strain relief and insulation.

Operating Instructions

System Software Mapping: Open the VM600 MPSx or VibroSight configuration tool on a connected PC.

Logic Assignment: Define the trip matrix by linking input channels from MPC4 dynamic processing cards to the IRC4 output relays using desired logic conditions (e.g., 2oo3 trip logic).

Trip Test Routine: Execute an offline trip test via software to verify individual relay switching behavior and validate external interlock loops.

LED Diagnostic Review: Observe the front-panel status indicators during startup:

STATUS LED (Green): Solid illumination confirms valid backplane power and healthy CPU execution.

RELAY STATUS LEDs (Yellow): Illuminated when corresponding relays are activated / tripped.

DIAG/FAULT LED (Red): Indicates backplane communication loss or internal relay driver failure.
