Watlow Anafaze MLS300-AIM is a 16-channel Analog Input Module designed as a high-density expansion unit for the MLS300 series.

 It is the primary interface for collecting field sensor data to be processed by the system's central CPU.

1. Introduction

The MLS300-AIM (Analog Input Module) is a critical expansion block within the modular MLS300 system.

 Its primary role is to convert low-level analog signals from sensors into digital data for the MLS300-PM (Processor Module).

 A single system can utilize multiple AIM units to scale up to 32 loops of control. 

Though discontinued by Watlow, it remains widely used in legacy industrial stacks, often paired with the AIM-TB (Analog Input Terminal Board) for physical wiring.

6. Installation and Maintenance

Installation

Stacking: Align the AIM module with the MLS300-PM and connect using the factory-supplied ribbon cable. Ensure the connectors are fully seated and locked.

Wiring: Sensors must be wired to the AIM-TB terminal board. For 4-20mA signals, ensure the 250$Omega$ precision resistors are installed on the terminal block.

Shielding: Shielded cables are mandatory for thermocouple signals. Connect the shield at the terminal board end only to avoid ground loops.

Maintenance

Contact Cleaning: Over decades, the ribbon cable pins can oxidize. Periodically use a non-residue electronic contact cleaner to maintain signal integrity.

Failed Sensor Alarms: If the system displays "FS" (Failed Sensor) or "RT" (Reversed Thermocouple), check the terminal board connections first, as the AIM module is sensitive to loose wiring.

Refurbishment: Because it is discontinued, maintain a spare AIM module or utilize a professional repair service to recalibrate the A/D converters if readings begin to drift.
