The Nidec MP155A5 and its regenerative counterpart, the MP155A5R, are advanced digital DC drives designed for medium-to-high power applications.

 Rated at 155A and engineered specifically for 575V AC input, these drives are part of the premier Mentor MP series. 

They provide a high-performance alternative to AC drives in applications where DC motors are already installed or where high torque and regenerative capabilities are required at a lower system cost.

Unique Product Description: The "High-Voltage Bridge"

The MP155A5 serves as the "High-Voltage Bridge," uniquely designed to handle the 575V power standards of North American heavy industry without needing an isolation transformer.

 It combines "brute force" power delivery with "fine-tuned" AC-style intelligence, allowing operators to keep their high-torque DC motors while gaining modern Ethernet connectivity and precision digital control.

Installation and Maintenance

Thermal Management: The 155A unit is housed in a Frame 1B chassis. Ensure at least 100mm (4 inches) of clearance above and below the unit for airflow.

Fuse Protection: Use high-speed semiconductor fuses (aR type) to protect the internal SCRs. Standard circuit breakers are insufficient for the speed of electronic faults.

SmartCard Backup: Parameters should be backed up to the included SmartCard. This allows for near-instant drive replacement by simply transferring the card to a new unit.

Terminal Integrity: In 155A applications, cable expansion due to heat is common. Periodically check the torque of all armature and AC input terminals to prevent arcing.
