Positioning: Hook the upper mounting groove of the switch's rear DIN-rail clip onto the top edge of the 35mm DIN rail.

Snapping Down: Press the bottom front of the switch downward and inward toward the rail. The spring-loaded bottom clip will snap shut onto the rail with a distinct click.

Grounding: Connect the functional ground screw terminal on the bottom-left front panel of the switch housing directly to your cabinet's central ground bar using a low-impedance conductor.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering the Unit

Unscrew the 6-pin terminal block on the top right. Wire the redundant power lines as follows:

$L1+$ and $M1$: Primary power supply ($+$ and $-$).

$L2+$ and $M2$: Backup power supply ($+$ and $-$).

Fault Terminals: Connect these in-series to an external PLC input or warning lamp to monitor power loss or link failure events.

2. Accessing the Configuration Web Interface (GUI)

Out of the box, the switch does not have a default IP. Assign a temporary IP using the Hirschmann HiDiscovery tool or via DHCP.

Open a web browser on a laptop within the same subnet and enter the assigned IP address.

Log in using the default credentials: Username: admin | Password: private (Note: The switch will prompt you to change the password on your first login for security).

3. Ring Redundancy Activation

To set up a highly reliable ring:

Connect the optical fibers to form a physically closed ring between your switches.

Log into the GUI, navigate to Redundancy > Ring Redundancy, and enable MRP or HIPER-Ring on the two optical ports (Ports 1 and 2).

Designate one switch in the ring as the Ring Manager (RM) and all other switches as Clients.
