SAST1 GE Shunt Trip Circuit Breaker
Product Description P/N: SAST1 Description / Specifications Description The SAST1 is a General Electric shunt trip circuit breaker accessory compatible with Spectra RMS circuit breakers ranging from SE150 to SK1200. It facilitates remote tripping of the breaker when integrated with a momentary close contact, enhancing operational flexibility. Notably, continuous energization with a latching relay contact is discouraged due to potential delays in shunt tripping upon reclosure, though instantaneous short circuit trips are ensured. For applications requiring continuous operation without delay, alternatives like a bell alarm in series with control power are recommended for SE150 and SF250 frames, while an auxiliary switch is suitable for SG600 and SK1200 breakers. These accessories are UL listed and can be installed internally without requiring cover removal. The shunt trip mechanism enables remote tripping of the circuit breaker when triggered by a momentary close contact signal. It's important to note that continuous energization with a latching relay contact is not recommended due to potential pulsing of power to the coil, which can cause delayed shunt tripping upon reclosure, typically within 1-2 seconds at the rated control voltage. Instantaneous tripping, however, occurs during a short circuit fault. For applications where delayed shunt tripping is unacceptable with a latching relay contact, alternatives include using a bell alarm in conjunction with control power for SE150 and SF250 frames, or employing an auxiliary switch for SG600 and SK1200 breakers. Key specifications of the SAST1 include a maximum power rating of 75 VA, compatibility with AC voltage at 120 V and DC voltage at 125 V, and operation within a frequency range of 50-60 Hz. It is designed for left pole mounting on SE150/SF250 frame circuit breakers within the Spectra RMS series. The SAST1 is a field-installed accessory that conforms to the authentic standards of General Electric products.
Removing the Bus Controller
1. Power down the rack in which the Bus Controller is located. Before removing power, it is important to consider the impact on the controlled process. Caution Do not remove a module when power is applied to the rack. This could cause the system to stop.
2. Remove the bus wiring from the Bus Controller.
3. Squeeze the retaining clips at the top and bottom of the cover to disengage them from the rack rails.
4. Pull the board firmly to remove it from the backplane connector.
5. Slide the board out of the card guide to remove it from the rack
