The SAMSUNG SMCOM-08 is a dedicated serial communication expansion card engineered for Samsung SPC and SM-series PLC systems. It expands the host controller's networking capabilities by providing 8 independent serial communication ports (RS-232C / RS-422 / RS-485 configurable). The module enables seamless data exchange between the central PLC and peripheral field devices such as HMIs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), barcode scanners, smart meters, and third-party controllers.

Operating Instructions
Hardware Setup:
Ensure power to the PLC rack is completely isolated.
Seat the SMCOM-08 firmly into the designated expansion slot on the baseplate and lock the retaining clip.
Attach matching 120 Ω termination resistors at both ends of the trunk for long-distance RS-485 networks.
Software Configuration:
Open the Samsung PLC programming environment (e.g., WinGPC).
Map the SMCOM-08 slot address in the I/O table.
Set communication parameters (Baud rate, Data bits, Stop bits, Parity) for each channel to match connected slave devices.
Data Exchange:
Utilize built-in read/write communication functions or memory mapping instructions in ladder logic to initiate polling cycles.
