The Honeywell ControlEdge HC900 Controller is an advanced loop and logic controller offering a modular design sized to satisfy the control and data management needs of a wide range of process equipment. When combined with the optional 900 Control Station operator Interface that is highly integrated with the controller’s database, configuration and setup time is minimized. This powerful combination together with Honeywell’s performance proven control technology provides users an ideal solution for process control. Open Ethernet connectivity with Modbus TCP Protocol also allows network access using a variety of HMI/SCADA software. Program execution environment is protected using an independent watchdog timer. Easy-to-use Windows-based Designer software, operable over Ethernet or RS485 port (isolated) simplifies controller configuration. The software is available in English and Chinese language version. It provides advanced monitoring functions for debug, allows run-mode process configuration changes while maintaining process control, uploads the complete, annotated graphic controller configuration, plus supplies an array of reports for enhanced documentation. The ControlEdge HC900 Controller provides superior PID loop control and more robust analog processing than most logic controllers without compromising logic performance. A separate, fast scan cycle executes a rich assortment of logic and calculation function blocks. Logic blocks may also execute in the same scan with analog function blocks for time critical events. These function blocks may be fully integrated into a combined analog and logic control strategy for uncompromising control performance. The Honeywell ControlEdge HC900 Controller is an integrated loop and logic controller that is designed specifically for small-and medium-scale unit operations It comprises a set of hardware and software modules that can be assembled to satisfy any of a broad range of process control applications. The ControlEdge HC900 Controller can consist of a single rack, as indicated in Figure 1, or can be can be networked with other controllers via Ethernet links to expand the dimensions of control over a wider range of unit processes, as indicated in Figure 2 The ControlEdge HC900 Controller design enables users and OEMs who are adept in system integration to assemble a system that fits a broad range of requirements. Any configuration can be readily modified or expanded as requirements dictate. In initial configuration and in subsequent modifications, the ControlEdge HC900 Controller affords an optimum balance of performance and economy. Configurations such as those shown in Figure 1 and in Figure 2, as well as many variations, can be assembled from modular components. Many of the components are available from Honeywell, and some are available from third-party suppliers. These modular components are available in any quantity and mix that make the most sense for a given application. As indicated in Figure 3, the ControlEdge HC900 Controller includes provisions for communication via Ethernet with host systems such as the Honeywell Experion HMI and other HMI software that supports Ethernet Modbus/TCP protocol. Port configurable as Modbus RTU/TCP master or slave. In new systems RS-232 to RS-485 cable is used for link to PC configuration tool. Link to Operator Interface For legacy and new systems, RS-485 port used for 2-wire link to the Operator Interface (up to 2000 feet or 601meters). Port configurable as Modbus RTU master or slave. Ethernet 10/100Base-T connection to: up to 5 PC hosts via Modbus/TCP protocol, Peer-to Peer communication with other ControlEdge HC900 Controllers, and the Internet. C70 has 2 Ethernet ports for connection to up to 10 PC hosts. It also supports Modbus/TCP Initiator function over both ports.
